Turning a Photo Into a PDF, Right on Your Phone

Why a PDF often beats a plain photo, how much resolution you actually need, and how to combine several pictures into one file without installing an app.

Why a PDF instead of a plain photo

A JPG opens instantly on any phone, but it also shifts easily: rotated, recompressed, out of order when there are several. A PDF stays the way it was put together. Anyone photographing a receipt, a form or a sign and forwarding it by email usually wants exactly that: a file that looks the same to the recipient as it did when it was sent.

Convert JPG to PDF handles that straight in the browser, no app store needed. The photo stays on the device until the finished PDF is ready to download.

From the camera roll to a finished file

On a phone it is enough to open the photo gallery, pick the image and upload it through the browser. There is no need to go through a computer first, the tool works the same way on a phone screen as it does on a desktop.

Anyone combining several shots into one document, the front and back of an ID card for example, just selects both images. They land as two pages in the same PDF, in the order they were picked.

How much resolution you actually need

Modern phone cameras often deliver more resolution than a readable PDF needs. A few megapixels are enough for text, as long as the shot is sharp and level. Good light matters more than pixel count: a photo taken by a window in daylight comes out more readable than one taken with flash at night, since flash bounces off glossy paper.

Portrait or landscape

A document in portrait orientation should be photographed upright, even if that feels awkward to hold. Shooting it in landscape and rotating afterwards crops the edges, because rotation always trims something. If the orientation already went wrong, Rotate PDF fixes it afterwards.

When the background gets in the way

A photo always shows what surrounds the document too: the table, the hand holding it steady. For most purposes that is not a problem. If the finished PDF should look tidier, the border can be trimmed afterwards with Crop.

When scanning beats photographing

For a single image, direct conversion is the fastest route. For a multi-page document that needs even alignment and better contrast on the text, Scan to PDF gives the better result, since it applies image correction as part of the process.

Common questions

Does the photo get shrunk during upload? It gets prepared for the PDF, and the quality level can be chosen.

Does this work with a screenshot too? Yes, a screenshot is treated the same way as a photo and converts into a PDF just as easily.

Do several photos keep their order? Yes, the order can still be changed with drag and drop before the file is created.
